CCAP SYNOD OF LIVINGSTONIA EDUCATION

DEPARTMENT

Education in Malawi was first offered by Christian sector through the missionaries in churches with CCAP Synod of Livingstonia being one of them. The first school was established at Cape Maclear in 1875. The second school was established at Bandawe in 1882. In 1895 Overton Institute was established at Khondowe, the current Livingstonia Mission Station. This was later adopted by government which to date has identified the education sector as one of the nine priorities among priorities in the nation’s development agenda.  CCAP Education department’s commitment to the education sector is underlined by the number of schools that it is running which are currently 850 primary schools, 7 secondary schools one Teacher training college and one technical college.
